Giống gà BT2 là giống gà thịt thả vườn, được lai tạo và chọn lọc từ năm 1995 bởi các chuyên gia chăn nuôi hàng đầu tại Trung tâm Nghiên cứu Chăn nuôi Bình Thắng. Đây là giống gà nổi bật với năng suất cao, chất lượng thịt thơm ngon và thích hợp cho điều kiện chăn thả vườn tại các vùng nông thôn. Giống gà BT2 đã được công nhận là bộ giống quốc gia và vinh dự nhận giải thưởng Nhà nước về Khoa học Công nghệ năm 2005, khẳng định giá trị vượt trội của giống gà này trong ngành chăn nuôi gia cầm.
Đặc điểm ngoại hình và năng suất
Giống gà BT2 sở hữu nhiều đặc điểm ngoại hình và năng suất nổi bật, giúp mang lại hiệu quả kinh tế cao cho người chăn nuôi:
- Ngoại hình: Gà BT2 có ngoại hình ấn tượng với mào đơn, lông vàng nâu đặc trưng, cùng với các sọc xám đen trên cánh và đuôi. Đôi chân cao và da vàng của gà BT2 cũng là một trong những điểm thu hút, giúp dễ nhận biết và đánh giá cao trong thị trường chăn nuôi gà thịt.
- Năng suất:
- Dòng mái: Năng suất trứng của dòng mái đạt 195 – 200 trứng/mái/năm, mang lại nguồn thu ổn định cho người chăn nuôi.

Từ năm 2002, Bộ Nông nghiệp và Phát triển Nông thôn đã giao nhiệm vụ cho Trung tâm Nghiên cứu Chăn nuôi Bình Thắng chịu trách nhiệm nuôi giữ giống gốc của hai dòng gà BT2. Trung tâm đã xây dựng và duy trì đàn gà gốc với số lượng 1.000 mái ông bà mỗi năm, đảm bảo sự ổn định và bền vững cho nguồn gen quý này.
Hàng năm, giống gà BT2 được phát triển và đưa ra sản xuất khoảng 1 triệu con giống 1 ngày tuổi, đáp ứng nhu cầu lớn của các trang trại và hộ chăn nuôi trên toàn quốc. Nhờ sự phối hợp chặt chẽ giữa Trung tâm và các mô hình sản xuất, giống gà BT2 đã trở thành một trong những giống gà thương phẩm phổ biến và mang lại hiệu quả kinh tế cao.
Ứng dụng giống gà BT2 trong chăn nuôi
