Effect of spacing and levels fertilizer on yield and quality of Panicum maximum cv. Hamil
Two experiments were conducted at the Ruminant research and Development Center, Binh Duong, from 2017 to 2018 to study effect of 3 different planting densities (experiment 1: 50, 60 and 70 cm) and 3 levels of fertilizer (experiment 2: 30, 40 and 50 ton/ha) on yield and quality of Hamil grass, which should be used a guidelines for Hamil grass growing procedure. Results showed that, the best planting space was 60 cm (28.1 ton/ha), VCK (dry matter) yield 6.0 ton/ha, protein yield 0.67 ton/ha. Hamil grass in the trial gave the highest efficiency with application of 50 ton/ha. The fertilizer application could also improve nutritional quality of Hamil grass, especially it could enhance the content of crude protein. It was therefore recommended to plant Hamil grass with a density of 60cm and levels of fertilizer application of 50 ton/ha.

ABSTRACT
The experiment was designed in incidental conjugation method for 20 cross-bred cows HF (Holstein Friesian) with the target of comparing the effects between fermented total mixed ration (FTMR) food rationand the traditional feeding method on milk production. Maize stem, rice bran, cornmeal, groundnut oil cake, sugarcane molasses, beverage residue, cassava residue and concentrate have been used in the experiment. Milk production has been monitored individually every day. Milk quality (dry matter, fat, protein and lactose) has been analyzed with 1 sample/cow by Funke Gerber Lactostar 3510-123303 machine. The results have been shown. The costfor feed (each kg of milk) force sapplied with FTMR and the traditional feeding method considerably reduced (4734 VND in FTMR and 5381 VND in the traditional method). Indicators on feed quantities, milk capacity and quality show no difference between experimented samples and counter samples. Conclude, FTMR can be popularly applied in reality of cow feeding to help peasants to make use of agricultural raw materials in the region and food can be preserved in long time. This method also actively assists us to prepare food source for cows in dry season without any breeding efficiency.

Adiponectin induced AMP-activated protein kinase impairment mediates insulin resistance in Bama mini-pig fed high-fat and high-sucrose diet

Objective: Adipose tissue is no longer considered as an inert storage organ for lipid, but instead is thought to play an active role in regulating insulin effects via secretion adipokines. However, conflicting reports have emerged regarding the effects of adipokines. In this study, we investigated the role of adipokines in glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity in obese Bama mini-pigs.
Methods: An obesity model was established in Bama mini-pigs, by feeding with high-fat and high-sucrose diet for 30 weeks. Plasma glucose and blood biochemistry levels were measured, and intravenous glucose tolerance test was performed. Adipokines, including adiponectin, interleukin-6 (IL-6), resistin and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), and glucose-induced insulin secretion were also examined by radioimmunoassay. AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) phosphorylation in skeletal muscle, which is a useful insulin resistance marker, was examined by immunoblotting. Additionally, associations of AMPK phosphorylation with plasma adipokines and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) index were assessed by Pearce's correlation analysis.
Results: Obese pigs showed hyperglycemia, high triglycerides, and insulin resistance. Adiponectin levels were significantly decreased (p<0.05) and IL-6 amounts dramatically increased (p<0.05) in obese pigs both in serum and adipose tissue, corroborating data from obese mice and humans. However, circulating resistin and TNF-α showed no difference, while the values of TNF-α in adipose tissue were significantly higher in obese pigs, also in agreement with data from obese humans but not rodent models. Moreover, strong associations of skeletal muscle AMPK phosphorylation with plasma adiponectin and HOMA-IR index were obtained.
Conclusion: AMPK impairment induced by adiponectin decrease mediates insulin resistance in high-fat and high-sucrose diet induction. In addition, Bama mini-pig has the possibility of a conformable model for human metabolic diseases.

Accuracy of genomic breeding value prediction for intramuscular fat using different genomic relationship matrices in Hanwoo (Korean cattle

Objective: Intramuscular fat is one of the meat quality traits that is considered in the selection strategies for Hanwoo (Korean cattle). Different methods are used to estimate the breeding value of selection candidates. In the present work we focused on accuracy of different genotype relationship matrices as described by forni and pedigree based relationship matrix.
Methods: The data set included a total of 778 animals that were genotyped for BovineSNP50 BeadChip. Among these 778 animals, 72 animals were sires for 706 reference animals and were used as a validation dataset. Single trait animal model (best linear unbiased prediction and genomic best linear unbiased prediction) was used to estimate the breeding values from genomic and pedigree information.
Results: The diagonal elements for the pedigree based coefficients were slightly higher for the genomic relationship matrices (GRM) based coefficients while off diagonal elements were considerably low for GRM based coefficients. The accuracy of breeding value for the pedigree based relationship matrix (A) was 13% while for GRM (GOF, G05, and Yang) it was 0.37, 0.45, and 0.38, respectively.
Conclusion: Accuracy of GRM was 1.5 times higher than A in this study. Therefore, genomic information will be more beneficial than pedigree information in the Hanwoo breeding program.

A post-genome-wide association study validating the association of the glycophorin C gene with serum hemoglobin level in pig

Objective: This study aimed to validate the statistical evidence from the genome-wide association study (GWAS) as true-positive and to better understand the effects of the glycophorin C (GYPC) gene on serum hemoglobin traits.
Methods: Our initial GWAS revealed the presence of two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (ASGA0069038 and ALGA0084612) for the hemoglobin concentration trait (HGB) in the 2.48 Mb region of SSC15. From this target region, GYPC was selected as a promising gene that associated with serum HGB traits in pigs. SNPs within the GYPC gene were detected by sequencing. Thereafter, we performed association analysis of the variant with the serum hemoglobin level in three pig populations.
Results: We identified one SNP (g.29625094 T>C) in exon 3 of the GYPC gene. Statistical analysis showed a significant association of the SNP with the serum hemoglobin level on day 20 (p<0.05). By quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction, the GYPC gene was expressed in eight different tissues.
Conclusion: These results might improve our understanding of GYPC function and provide evidence for its association with serum hemoglobin traits in the pig. These results also indicate that the GYPC gene might serve as a useful marker in pig breeding programs. Keywords: Pig; Glycophorin C; Association; Hemoglobin Level; Expression
